Denver Zoo

On Monday, we visited the Denver Zoo with Gran, Papa Jeff, Aunt Robyn, and Uncle Danny. Most of these photos were taken by Charlie with his own camera. He is a very good photographer. Many of the highlights of the zoo were things I remember from years past, but the new Elephant Passage was really phenomenal.

Happy sisters. Tiger in the background.

This Russian Leopard and her baby (born in April) was one of the first animals we saw and the kids favorite animal of the day. It was quite entertaining watching them play. Mama did not seem as entertained.

the seals and sea lions, one of my favorites, unfortunately the show was cancelled for the day

polar bear was lounging in the shade...we were really hoping to see him swimming from below...

This is Groucho, a 42 year old male elephant. Charlie took this picture and the next couple during a talk we went to see about the new Elephant Passage exhibit.

I believe they said they can house up to 8 bull elephants and that this is the only facility like this in the world.

Multiple species share the Elephant Passage, and four elephants, they are shifted throughout the exhibit during the day giving the animals a changing environment.

All of these elephant shots were taken by Charlie during the show.

 A tapir. Fascinating animal.

The indoor facility at Elephant Passage. Quite phenomenal.

We closed down the zoo with a ride - or two - on the carousel.  Rain clouds looked like they would open up at any moment.

The clouds opened up as we were walking to the exit. Perfect timing.

We ended the day at Aunt Robyn and Uncle Danny's eating fantastic Chinese take out!
