Pirate Uncle Charlie, Pirate Auntie Ann, David the Barbarian Ghost, Gwen the Purple Witch, Pippie Long Stocking (Ella), Charlie the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle, Sophie Mae the Rainbow Butterfly, Mimi the Pink Witch and Amy "Death".

The kids all decided on their own costumes. Between Goodwill, thrift stores, and my sewing machine, we really had fun putting it all together.
Charles and I decided to be pirates in honor of the Pippi books.
I am aware that Pippi's father wasn't Jack Sparrow...but at some point you just have to make it up as you go along...

his booster seat was not adjusted correctly and could I PLEASE fix it

Yesterday, Charlie and I took Sophie
to the doctor. She wasn't feeling well, bad cough.
We live about 15 minutes away from our doc.
About 2 minutes before we pulled in
Charlie told me he was VERY tired
and he really NEEDED to go to sleep
and his booster seat was not adjusted correctly
and could I PLEASE fix it. NOW.
Tired boy.
I did everything I could to convince him that
we were nearly there, so he shouldn't sleep NOW
and that he could rest on my lap after we got into the office.
But, we got there, and he pepped up,
and started to play, and Sophie was asleep on my lap.
And I look over and I see this.

And I sort of panicked. I said, Charlie are you okay?

And he said, Yes, I'm just looking at how these trucks work.
The little trucks that are attached to the front of the school bus slide around on a track system.
These kind of things make me smile.

Sophie has an ear infection and bronchitis.
She now has antibiotics.
And things are getting back on TRACK, so to speak.

spooky birthday

Charlie's birthday party started out with a scavenger hunt for Legos.

After all the Legos were collected,
Charlie and Grandad made this creation.

Charlie has on his jester hat that Mo & Ella made for him. He loves it!

a new adventure

Yesterday, we embarked on a new adventure at a new school!

She sure has grown since last year.

It was a successful day. She was VERY tired.
It's going to take some time to adjust to the new, longer day.
The highlights seemed to be Spanish class
and the really cool jack-n-jill bathroom
shared with the classroom next door!

A hearty (Dad-cooked) breakfast!

Today, was Charlie & Sophie's first day of preschool!
Charlie wore his new, lighted shoes!
Sophie, has been planning on this dress for weeks,
it's a very special Gracie-Mae hand-me-down.

Sophie was the first one up,
dressed, and ready to go this morning.

There were some tears shed by both of us,
but my favorite preschool director called to tell me
that after she warmed up, she was having a grand time.

Charlie was tired this morning.
He insisted on carrying the pillow around
just in case there was a spare moment for a snooze.

When this little bird sleeps, she's always made herself a nest.

At pickup, she told me every detail of her day,
down to the trash-can she placed her banana in.
Highlights were reading The Kissing Hand and snack time.
I think she liked it!

Charlie enjoyed his day.
Highlights were Sign Language and Spanish.
He finally got his snooze!

And now,
I need a nap!
