reading with grandma

Charlie was very excited to find some "new" train stories at Grandma & Grandpa's house this weekend.  These books were originally read to my Uncle Steve, so although new to Charlie, these stories have been read many times.

big rockets

Today, Charlie was the event photographer. Charles took the kids out to Rainbow Valley to watch the AHPRA (Arizona High Power Rocketry Association) lauch their "big" rockets. They said it was fun and HOT.

swimming lessons ~ the drive home

Ella was our photographer on the drive home tonight...

Sophie

The orange mouth is from her "last day of lessons" popsicle, which she thoroughly enjoyed. Our kids start the next session on Monday, so it's not really the end, yet.

Guess who's toes??

Her fabulous little bro (note the fire in the distance).

Another picture of our latest Gila River fire. This one is close but not too close. So far we haven't been able to smell it too much. This is it's second day...I hope they get it put out soon.

swimming lessons ~ part 3

Charlie isn't so sure about lessons this year. Today we spent time in the baby pool. Charlie loved walking the wall with his hands. He was very happy.

My guys.

Ella took this (fantastic!) picture while we were loading up the car.

swimming lessons ~ part 2

Sophie loves lessons! So does dad!

swimming lessons ~ part 1

Waiting in line for the diving board, Ella's the last one in line (red suit, pink goggles).

Ella's turn!

Ella with her teacher for this session, Amy. Ella wanted to make sure we get a picture of this into her journal!

one more cannonball

She's amazing!!

cannonball girl

Today Ella practiced her cannonball jumps. Her swimming skills have improved so much this summer and the best part is that she LOVES it. Last night at lessons she jumped off the diving board twice and she can't wait to do it again! We are so excited for her!

ring of fire

Check out these dance moves! Woohoo Charlie!!

paycom beans

Aunt Robyn gave Ella and Charlie their very own "Paycom" beans. The company she works for, Paycom, gives them out to new customers. They are currently 12 days old. Charlie has been very concerned that his is not as big as Ella's, but in the past 2 days or so his has started to catch up. The kids have loved watching these grow, it's been quite interesting. I'm not quite sure what sort of bean plant a "Paycom" bean really is? We hope Aunt Robyn can get us some more!

Tonight, before bed, Ella & Charlie were playing "sunglasses shop." Mom has entirely too many pairs of discarded eye-ware!!

tea party with cheetos

So...I put the kids down for a nap...I come back to clean up (later, not too much later)...and I find that the Cheetos bag has moved...hmmm...guess who had a taste?!? Now the question is, do I throw the rest of the bag out? She left a pretty good amount in the bottom...what a waste of PRECIOUS Cheetos...oh Dharma...

estrella sunset

A beautiful Estrella sunset, photo taken by my father-in-law, Chick, with his NEW camera!

Posing for Grandad's new camera!

big bad wolf

Today, Ella started her new hip-hop/tap class. I wasn't so sure I'd like this class...but it was really cute and most importantly Ella had a great time. My hesitation came from the recital last weekend; the girls performing from this class were all dressed like boys (boy hip-hop stars). My rationalization on this ~ if they dressed like hip-hop girls they wouldn't have any clothes on, so either way we (the parents) are going to complain.

We came home and scoured the internet for the song they will be practicing to for the next few weeks. Of course, I'm only going on the few words I could make out through the windows and Ella's confirmation, but I think the song is, Who's Afraid of the Big Bad Wolf, by LL Cool J. It seems a bit obscure, so I added a link to a blog called "Covering the Mouse" where information about this song resides and even better, you can listen to the entire song! Those dance teachers sure are resourceful...enjoy!

yogurt

Sophie LOVES yogurt. Especially the berry kind with LOTS of sugar! This morning both Ella & Charlie helped her get as much as possible. Off to the shower...

reading in the buff

I was getting the kids ready to go to the swimming pool...and Charlie disappeared...to be found later reading Hairy Maclary to the giraffe and the elephant. Too cute!

railroad park

Today we took my parents to visit one of the kid's FAVORITE places, McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park. We rode the train, played on the playground, rode the carousel, Charles BBQ'd hotdogs for lunch, and we finished the day off with ice cream.  No wonder the kids love it, Charles and I love it too!

The kids with their Colorado grandparents!

patch of heaven

Ella had her dance recital this past weekend. She performed to A Little Patch of Heaven. The recital had a vacation theme, Ella's tap class was "Nebraska". I think that her class was the best performance of the entire show! In this class picture Ella is in the back row, third from the left.

Ella (performing) - second from the left.

She can't wait to start practicing for the next performance!  We are so proud of her!
